I Need Thee Every Hour 

This hymn has been one of my favorites for a long, long time. And I've been waiting long for someone to do a really wonderful arrangement. The wait is over. Anne-Marie has brought this hymn to life with beauty and tenderness. I am so excited to do this with my ward choir.

But I have a worry. I'm concerned that wards that don't have a violin available might think they should pass this by. That would be really sad and totally unnecessary. First, you can have someone play the violin part with one finger on the organ. Even if you have to omit the part entirely, the song is still wonderful, so go for it!

Anne-Marie Hildebrandt is a graduate of The Juilliard School in Piano Performance, where she was also on the Ear Training faculty. While in New York, she became heavily involved in the Irish music scene, teaching herself the Celtic harp, the fiddle, how to sing in the Irish style, and a number of other instruments. An accomplished songwriter, composer and arranger, she still finds little bits of the Irish sound creeping into most everything she creates. Anne-Marie's debut solo CD, "At Jesus' Knee," is sold at Deseret Book, Seagull book and wherever else LDS music is sold, and its accompanying songbook, "At Jesus' Knee," is a #1 Bestseller at Utah music stores. Recently Released: How Great the Wisdom and the Love

How great the wisdom and the love    That filled the courts on high
And sent the Savior from above    To suffer, bleed, and die.

His precious blood he freely spilt;    His life he feely gave,
A sinless sacrifice for guilt,    A dying world to save.

He marked the path and led the way,    And ev'ry point defines
To light and life and endless day    Where God's full presence shines.

How great, how glorious, how complete,    Redemption's grand design,
Where justice, love, and mercy meet    In harmony divine!

That last stanza is one of the best in all the world of church music, and yet it is hardly ever sung because it's "below the music." When you read it, you see the glorious teaching we regularly miss.
